ANALYSIS: New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed has been the definition of a boom-or-bust play this season. He had three huge games with 80-plus yards and a touchdown, but he also has four games with under 25 receiving yards.
He's been more on the bust side recently, as three of those four games with fewer than 25 yards have come over his last three appearances. He then missed the team's past two games with a thigh injury but is expected to return in Week 15 against the New York Giants.
Based on the fact that he's returning from injury and that he struggled in the three games before that, there's just not really any reason for fantasy managers to take a risk on Shaheed in Week 15. Sure, he's had some explosive games, but it's the fantasy football playoffs. You can't waste a lineup spot on a boom-or-bust play when he hasn't had a boom game since Week 8 against the Colts. Sure, that was a huge showing, with three catches for 153 yards and a touchdowns, but in the three games since, he averaged just 18.3 receiving yards per game.
