According to Chris Mortensen, Todd Gurley will make his NFL debut today at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Gurley is a high-risk/high-reward fantasy option for this week as it is unclear how many snaps he will play. With Gurley healthy, it is safe to drop Benny Cunningham in fantasy leagues.
The debut of Gurley is likely a boost for the whole Rams offense, including Nick Foles, who will benefit from defenses having to pay more attention to the St. Louis running game. Tre Mason returned from injury in Week 2 with seven carries for 26 yards against the Washington Redskins. Mason and Gurley split snaps evenly in practice this week, and I expect more of the same in the game today.
The Rams running backs face a Pittsburgh defense that has been solid against the run so far in 2015, ranking 10th in the NFL, allowing only 191 rushing yards through two games.
