BALLER MOVE: Target ~330
CURRENT ADP: 396
ANALYSIS: Raimel Tapia hasn't gotten the Coors Field bump in terms of ADP, as he is basically free on draft day at his current price. Tapia consistently hit well over .300 in each minor league stop and finished with a .288 average in 160 at-bats for the Rockies last year. He has 20-steal ability, although the Rockies are among the least exciting teams on the basepaths with just 59 stolen bases, good for 26th in the league. Given a full complement of playing time, he could reach that figure though.
The prospects of 20 SB and a high average might not be enough to make him sleeper material, but what about the thought of 100 runs scored? Tapia crossed the plate 27 times over 171 plate appearances as a rookie. Prorated over a full season, he could easily reach the century mark in a prolific offense like Colorado's. Concerns over playing time will push him to the bottom of the draft board, but if you expect David Dahl and Ian Desmond to stay healthy while Ryan McMahon holds down the first base job all season long, you could be considered an overly optimistic Rockies fan. As a late-round flier, Tapia is well worth the investment.
