BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 2% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: What if Quez Watkins was playing 85% of the Eagles offensive snaps weekly? What if Quez Watkins was getting some 5+ targets per week? What if Quez Watkins was a ball-hog instead of a secondary/tertiary option in Philadelphia? Well, those are a lot of questions and dreams and thoughts that have yet to become a reality, but we might have reached that point: enter Jalen Reagor's Week 8 injury.
Reagor has not been a must-start player this season. Far from it, actually. But he's been good enough to rank as the second most-used Eagles WR in fantasy with 32 targets through 8 games. Watkins has been the WR3 of the squad to date, with four fewer targets and 28 total. Now, the thing is, Watkins has dominated Reagor at everything other than scoring touchdowns (none to 2 TD from Reagor). Watkins has caught 20 passes, the same as Reagor, but he's racked up a massive 366 receiving yards (19.8 YPR) to Reagor's low tally 165 (6.4 per reception).
If Watkins can take advantage of Reagor's injury (assuming it's bad enough so he misses time) then we might be finally seeing a 7+ target Watkins instead of the current 3-target-per-game-average version of Quez. Watkins is averaging 2.1 PPR points per target compared to Reagor's 1.6 and an even worse mark by WR1 DeVonta Smith's 1.5. We can only hope Watkins get a larger diet of target, and that's far from a sure thing as I'm writing this--which is the main reason you should only rush to roster Quez in deeper formats.
