After a history of inconsistent road play, including his seven-point fantasy performance against the Houston Texans in Week 12, Drew Brees turned it around last week in Tampa Bay by finishing with 312 yards and two touchdowns for 20.4 fantasy points.
It was Brees’ second-straight 20-point performance, and he should enjoy the same success on Monday Night at home against the Detroit Lions. Brees has averaged more than 32 fantasy points per game over his last three home games, and with the Saints still alive in the NFC playoff picture, look for Brees to continue his aerial attack against a mediocre Detroit defense.
Derek Carr’s 135-yard performance on the road against Denver in Week 14 was par for the course, given that Denver possesses arguably the best defense in football this year.
The Raiders started out terrible, totaling negative-12 yards in the first half against Denver, but Carr finished strong and threw a pair of touchdown passes to salvage his fantasy day with 13 points, according to standard scoring leagues.
Carr will be in for a more favorable matchup against a banged up Green Bay Packers defense that will be without its best cornerback in Sam Shields. Carr has averaged nearly 20 fantasy points per game over his last three home games, and he’s thrown as many touchdowns as Aaron Rodgers has this season. The Raiders, though with an outside chance, still have a shot at the playoffs, so look for Carr to play some of his best football of the season in Week 15.
Anytime your quarterback is playing the New Orleans Saints, one would assume that serious saliva would be running down your chin. The Saints have a laughable defense, including a secondary that allows about 280 yards per game.
The Saints have also given up 36 passing touchdowns this year, which leads the NFL by seven touchdowns over the 31st-ranked Philadelphia Eagles. Matthew Stafford has struggled a bit over his last two games, totaling just 33 points, but those came against the rival Green Bay Packers and a pretty good St. Louis Rams defense respectively.
Stafford has significantly cut down on the turnovers since Detroit’s bye week, throwing 11 touchdowns to just two interceptions in his last five games. With a juicy primetime against the Saints on Monday, look for a 300-yard, multiple touchdown performance from Stafford.
