Welcome to our PrizePicks PGA DFS prop picks for the 2023 John Deere Classic (Round 1). The 2023 PGA Tour season is in full swing, and to celebrate, PrizePicks has an extensive selection of PGA props to take advantage of! PrizePicks is a great DFS props site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or singular stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.
Our partners at PrizePicks offer some of the best and easiest-to-win PGA DFS games in the industry. There are no large-field tournaments filled with sharks where you have to get lucky just to place. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money. With promo code 'BALLER' you can get a 100% match on your deposit of up to $100.
This week, we're at TPC Deer Run for the 2023 John Deere Classic! Long known as one of the premier breakout spots on the PGA Tour, we have an assortment of exciting young talent and surging veterans all vying for that elusive first victory. I and the entire Rotoballer PGA staff have put out 1,000s of words on the course, key stats, and field this week, so this article won't be focused on the minutiae of projecting outright winners or DFS pivot plays. Instead, I'll be solely focused on a few money-making opportunities I've found in PrizePicks' unique markets to help you build your bankroll as the PGA Tour season gets into full swing! Today's plays are specifically for round one on Thursday, July 6.
Featured Promo: Our friends at PrizePicks are hooking you up. Chris Kirk MORE than 4.5 Birdies or Better
Fresh off of a sneaky T14 in Detroit in which he had his best week on approach since his win at the Honda this past February, I believe TPC Deer Run is a perfect venue for Chris Kirk to keep the train rolling. Not only does Kirk lead this field over the last three months in Birdie Chances Created, but he also happens to be one of the most prolific wedge players in world golf (9th on the PGA Tour in Proximity to the hole on shots from 50-125 yards; 3rd in Proximity from 125-150).
On a golf course with 8 Par 4's under 435 yards, a short 158-yard Par 3, and 3 very reachable Par 5's, Kirk should have plenty of chances to flex that world-class wedge game. With the swing he showed last week, and the confidence gained from ending his winless drought earlier in the year, I expect big things from the Georgia Bulldog this week. Look for him to light up the scoreboard around Deer Run Thursday morning.
Taylor Moore LESS than 5.0 Birdies or Better
In direct contrast to Chris Kirk, Taylor Moore's recent scores have come more on the back of the flat stick than they have from tee-to-green. He currently ranks outside the top 75 in SG: APP and Birdie Chances Created over the last three months, and if you want to zoom out even further, his wedge proximity from 50-150 yards ranks outside the Top 150 on the PGA Tour.
Combine this with a driving accuracy percentage of just 57.75% on the season, and this is not a profile I want to be investing in at a wedge-intensive venue like TPC Deer Run. Especially considering the 4" Bluegrass rough here provides some of the biggest penalty on the PGA Tour. The putter did carry Taylor in a big way last week at the Rocket Mortgage, but over the course of his career, Bentgrass has been far and away his weakest surface. I'm selling his potential to match the lofty projections of players listed right alongside him (Aberg, Henley, McCarthy, Schenk, etc.
Other Recommendations
- J.T. Poston LESS than 4.5 Birdies or Better
- Peter Kuest LESS than 69.5 Strokes
