Welcome to our PrizePicks PGA DFS prop picks for the 3M Open (Round 1). The PGA Tour season is in full swing, and to celebrate, PrizePicks has an extensive selection of PGA props to take advantage of! PrizePicks is a great DFS props site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or singular stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.
Our partners at PrizePicks offer some of the best and easiest-to-win PGA DFS games in the industry. There are no large-field tournaments filled with sharks where you have to get lucky just to place. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money. With promo code 'BALLER' you can get a 100% match on your deposit of up to $100.
This week, we're at TPC Twin Cities for the 2023 3M Open! As the penultimate stop of the PGA Tour regular season, time is running out for some of golf's marquee names to find a place into the field for Round 1 of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Between marquee names like Justin Thomas or Hideki Matsuyama, or young guns like Ludvig Aberg or Sam Bennett, time is very much of the essence for those with ambitions of lifting the FedEx Cup. I and the entire Rotoballer PGA staff have put out 1,000s of words on the course, key stats, and field this week, so this article won't be focused on the minutiae of projecting outright winners or DFS pivot plays. Instead, I'll be solely focused on a few money-making opportunities I've found in PrizePicks' unique markets to help you build your bankroll as the PGA Tour season gets into full swing! Today's plays are specifically for round one on Thursday, July 27.

Emiliano Grillo LESS than 69.0 Strokes
Since breaking a nearly eight-year winless drought in Fort Worth this past May, Emiliano Grillo has only continued to rack up top results in big tournaments. Grillo finished 15th at the newly crowned elevated event at TPC River Highlands, and followed up one month later with a 6th place finish at the 2023 Open Championship. Grillo remains one of golf's gold standards when combining precision driving and prolific approach play - ranking inside the top 5 in Good Drive Percentage, SG: APP, and Total Ball-Striking over the last three months.
It should come as no surprise, then, that Emi has historically thrived around the extremely penal TPC Twin Cities (T2, T3, MC in three starts). As one of the most accurate drivers of the ball in this field, Grillo won't be troubled by the many hazards in play off-the-tee, and he comes into this year's iteration on the back of gaining six shots on approach around Royal Liverpool.
Grillo's ball-striking upside has been well-documented for years, but what has really turned the trajectory of his career around has been the reversal of a notoriously balky putter. Emiliano ranks 6th in this field over his last 30 rounds with the putter and has gained strokes on the greens in six of his last seven starts. Frankly, if you'd had told me five years ago that Emiliano Grillo would become one of the best putters on the PGA Tour, I'd have visions of him as one of the best players in the world. Quite frankly, he's playing like one right now, and I'd consider him very likely to find his way back onto the first page of the 3M leaderboard.
Hideki Matsuyama LESS than 68.5 Strokes
Although Hideki hasn't showcased the upside we expect from a former World No. 2, the Japanese ace has been incredibly solid over the last three months. Over his last ten starts, Matsuyama has just one missed cut and eight finishes inside the top 30. The week-to-week consistency speaks to just how refined his all-around game has become, as Hideki rates inside the top 10 in virtually every key stat I'm looking at:
- 2nd in SG: APP
- 5th in Total Ball-Striking
- 6th in Good Drive %
- 1st in Birdie Chances Created
- 3rd in Proximity >175
- 1st in Bogey Avoidance
This balanced tee-to-green profile makes him an incredibly safe option in prop markets, especially when the line sits at 68.5 in relatively benign conditions around TPC Twin Cities tomorrow morning. Hideki fired a seven-under 64 around here in his 3M Open debut (2019), and there's nobody I'm more confident in to deliver a stress-free opener at the top of this betting board.
Other Recommendations
- Sungjae Im MORE than 4.5 Birdies or Better
- Justin Thomas LESS than 4.5 Birdies or Better
- Tony Finau LESS than 5.0 Birdies or Better
