Welcome to our PrizePicks NBA DFS prop picks for Tuesday, May 9th, 2023. The 2022-2023 NBA season is rolling along, and our friends over at PrizePicks still have a TON of great props we can look to take advantage of.
PrizePicks is a great DFS props site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.
At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money.

PrizePicks Over/Under DFS Props Contests
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game.
The second game is known as Single Stat. For NBA, Single Stat consists of points, rebounds, assists, three-pointers made, and free throws made, in which you determine if the player in question will go over or under their projected total.
You can mix and match players from different types of games in your entry, or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option.

Jaylen Brown OVER 27.5 Points + Assists
I'll start off the day with Jaylen Brown's points and assists prop. Brown has exceeded this projection in four of his last five games, averaging 29.2 PA during that span.
The Boston Celtics will return to home court after losing to the Philadelphia 76ers in overtime, tying the series 2-2. In games that have stayed close this series, Brown has seen 42-plus minutes, giving him great volume and opportunity to cover this prop. I expect the Celtics to win tonight but it should remain competitive. Brown is coming off a poor second-half performance from the last game, and I expect him to bounce back early tonight.
The books have Brown at -125 odds leaning on the over of 27.5, while others have him listed at 28.5 with -115 odds on the over, giving us a one-point margin. My prop model projects Brown for 28-plus points and assists with -129 odds. Tatum and Brown must shine to secure this game-five win at home, so I'm riding with Brown tonight.
Malcolm Brogdon OVER 14.5 Points
Next, I'll be looking at Malcolm Brogdon's points prop. Brogdon has surpassed this projection in five of his last five games, averaging 18.8 points during that span.
Brogdon is coming off a 19-point performance and has covered this line every game so far in the series. Brogdon played a high 36 minutes last game, and as long as this game can stay competitive, I can see him getting 28-plus minutes again. Brogodon has taken 12-plus field goal attempts in his last six games, so I expect the volume and opportunity to be there.
The books have Brogdon at -130 odds in favor of exceeding 14.5 points, while some have him listed at 15.5 with slight odds on the under, giving us a one-point margin. My prop model also supports this play, projecting Brogdon for 15.03 points tonight. Let's hope for a close competitive game for our Celtics props to cover!
Jamal Murray OVER 3 Free Throws
I'll finish things off with Jamal Murray's free throw prop. Murray has been over this projection in three of his last five games, averaging 3.6 free throws during that stretch.
After losing the second game in a row to the Phoenix Suns, the Denver Nuggets look to pick things back up at home for game five. Murray has played 41-plus minutes in the last two games, and I expect a similar workload tonight, assuming things can stay competitive. A star guard playing 40-plus minutes should see plenty of opportunity to get to the line.
Every other DFS site has Murray's line set to 3.5 free throws, so we're getting a half-point margin here. My prop model has Murray to go over three free throws with -149 odds, and I see it as a safe push play with great over potential.
Other Recommendations:
- James Harden OVER 29.5 PA
- Jamal Murray UNDER 5 Rebounds
- Devin Booker OVER 5 Rebounds
Overall recommendation for this play: FLEX
