Welcome to our PrizePicks MLB DFS prop picks for Wednesday, October 18, 2023. The 2023 MLB postseason is underway here at RotoBaller, and we have you covered with some terrific plays from our friends over at PrizePicks.
PrizePicks is a great DFS fantasy picks site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play.
On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money.
Announcement: We have two awesome new Props Optimizers for the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and NCAA! The PrizePicks Optimizer and Prop Bets Optimizer are both available in our new Props Premium Package, which includes exclusive access to RotoBaller's VIP Discord chat rooms for props and betting.
PrizePicks Over/Under DFS Props Contests
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game.
The second game is known as Single Stat. For the MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total.
You can mix and match players from different types of games in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Let's see what the board offers today!

Marcus Semien MORE than .5 runs
This is the third-highest-ranked prop on the PrizePicks Optimizer with a 53.6% chance of success, which is a tad lower than we would normally like to see but still within range. The reason the prop is a favorite is due to the fact that odds across the board have this listed at roughly -135, which is a decent value. Semien has managed to get on base and score runs in five of his seven games this postseason, including three of his previous four games.
Cristian Javier more than 4.5 strikeouts
This prop was listed at 4.0 yesterday and has now risen to 4.5. That being said, it is still very obtainable. Javier has one postseason start in 2023 and he managed to mow down nine Minnesota Twins across five innings of work. He will now be up against a Texas Rangers lineup that has posted a 27.1% K rate vs. right-handers over the previous three weeks. Javier has also managed to strike out at least five batters in six of his previous seven starts. The only concern here is that Texas has also posted a 12.4% walk rate vs. righties over the previous three weeks and Javier is known to get a case of the walks.
Max Scherzer MORE than 1.5 earned runs allowed
This is a risky play simply because we are not sure how long Max Scherzer is going to go in this one. He has not pitched since September 12 due to a shoulder injury, so we may only see 60 pitches out of him. That being said, the Astros could get to him early as they have posted a 102 wRC+ mark vs. right-handers over the previous three weeks. Scherzer had also given up two earned runs or more in three of his previous five starts before going on the IL.
Other Recommendations: Anything Michael Brantley-related (except hitter strikeouts).
