Welcome to our PrizePicks MLB DFS prop picks for Wednesday, July 5, 2023. The 2023 MLB season is underway here at RotoBaller, and we have you covered with some terrific plays from our friends over at PrizePicks.
PrizePicks is a great DFS fantasy picks site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money.
Announcement: We have two awesome new Props Optimizers for the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and NCAA! The PrizePicks Optimizer and Prop Bets Optimizer are both available in our new Props Premium Package, which includes exclusive access to RotoBaller's VIP Discord chat rooms for props and betting.
PrizePicks Over/Under DFS Props Contests
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game.
The second game is known as Single Stat. For the MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total.
You can mix and match players from different types of games in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Let's see what the board offers today!

Eduardo Rodriguez more than 4.5 strikeouts
The risk here is that Rodriguez is making his first since May 28th after coming off the IL with a finger injury. That being said, he threw 4+ innings in a rehab assignment on June 29th and should be locked in for this start. He has struck out at least five batters in each of his previous eight starts and has a solid matchup against Oakland in this one. Oakland has posted a K rate of nearly 25% vs. left-handers over the previous two weeks, which ranks in the bottom half of baseball. They have also posted an abysmal wRC+ mark of 51, which ranks fourth-worst in baseball over that span.
Josiah Gray more than 5.0 strikeouts
Gray has struck out at least six batters in four of his previous five starts and has faced some stiff competition in the Braves, Padres, and Phillies. He will now be up against another tough opponent in the Reds, however, they are posting a K rate of 23.1% vs. righties over the previous two weeks, which ranks in the bottom half of the league. Four of the previous six right-handed starters the Reds have faced have either matched or eclipsed this number as well.
Taijuan Walker more than 4.5 strikeouts
Walker has struck out at least five batters in each of his previous five starts. He will be up against the Rays tonight, who have posted the 11th-highest K rate vs. right-handers over the previous two weeks with a rate of 23.2%. They have also posted a walk rate below 7%, which is good news as Walker has allowed 10 walks in his previous six starts, meaning he should be able to avoid some additional trouble in this one. Each of the previous four starters the Rays have faced have also eclipsed this K prop.
Jon Gray more than 5.0 strikeouts
This is a play on current trends as the Red Sox are currently posting the highest K rate vs. right-handers over the previous two weeks with a rate of 28.1%. They are also posting a lackluster 74 wRC+ mark and a walk rate of just 4.7% over that same span. Meanwhile, Gray has matched or eclipsed this total in six of his previous nine starts and has been solid on the road this season as noted by his 1.99 ERA.
