Welcome to our PrizePicks MLB DFS prop picks for Tuesday, May 9, 2023. The 2023 MLB season is underway here at RotoBaller, and we have you covered with some terrific plays from our friends over at PrizePicks.
PrizePicks is a great DFS fantasy picks site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.
At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money.
Announcement: We have two awesome new Props Optimizers for MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL and NCAA! The PrizePicks Optimizer and Prop Bets Optimizer are both available in our new Props Premium Package, which includes exclusive access to RotoBaller's VIP Discord chat rooms for props and betting.
PrizePicks Over/Under DFS Props Contests
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game.
The second game is known as Single Stat. For the MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total.
You can mix and match players from different types of games in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Let's see what the board offers today!

Shane Bieber less than 6.5 strikeouts
This number is way too high for the 2023 version of Shane Bieber. Thus far in 2023, Bieber has eclipsed this number just once and has failed to reach five or more strikeouts in every other game. While the Tigers are posting the eighth-highest K rate vs. righties over the previous two weeks, they have come on strong of late and managed to get to Tanner Bibee last night after striking out just twice.
Luke Weaver more than 4.5 strikeouts
The Mets have been scuffling over the previous two weeks as they have posted the ninth-highest K rate against right-handers with a rate of 24.2% and pairing that with a 91 wRC+ mark. Weaver has been lit up a couple of times, however, he has posted 19 strikeouts across 16 innings pitched and eclipsed this total in two of his previous three starts.
Clarke Schmidt more than 6.5 strikeouts
This is a tad risky, but I do like the matchup for Schmidt. He has struck out at least eight in two of his previous three starts and they came against strong offenses in the Texas Rangers and Toronto blue Jays. now, he will be up against Oakland, who has posted the second-highest K rate against right-handers over the previous two weeks with a rate of 27.3%.
