Welcome to our PrizePicks MLB DFS prop picks for Tuesday, May 16, 2023. The 2023 MLB season is underway here at RotoBaller, and we have you covered with some terrific plays from our friends over at PrizePicks.
PrizePicks is a great DFS fantasy picks site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. PrizePicks Over/Under DFS Props Contests
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game.
The second game is known as Single Stat. For the MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total.
You can mix and match players from different types of games in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Let's see what the board offers today!

Cristian Javier more than 7.5 strikeouts
This number may seem a bit lofty, but Javier has struck out eight or more in three of his previous four starts and has a solid matchup in this one against the Cubs. Over the previous two weeks, the Cubbies are posting the fourth-highest K rate vs. right-handed pitchers with a rate of 26.2%. It should also be noted that this is currently set to roughly +100 across the books, so it is possible we could see this number drop to 7.0 at some point today.
Kevin Gausman more than 6.5 strikeouts
Gausman has been extremely solid this season as he has struck out at least seven in six of his eight starts. He most recently faced the Yankees on April 23rd and managed to mow down 11 of them across seven innings pitched. He will be at home in this one where he has posted a 14.4 K/9 this season compared to an 11,7 K/9 on the road.
Brady Singer more than 4.5 strikeouts
This one is a tad risky as Singer has been lit up a few times in 2023, but he has also eclipsed this total in three of his previous six starts. He will be up against the Padres, who are posting the eighth-highest K rate vs. right-handers over the previous two weeks with a rate of 22.9%. His risk of getting lit up here is a bit reduced as the Padres are also posting just a 66 wRC+ mark over that same span, which is ranked second-worst in the league.
Paul Goldschmidt more than 8.5 hitter fantasy score
Goldschmidt has been on fire over the previous week as he has posted a 1.052 OPS with three home runs and 16 combined runs +RBI. He will be up against left-hander, Wade Miley, which is great news. Since 2021, Goldschmidt has posted a 1.150 OPS with 20 home runs against Southpaws. Meanwhile, Miley has allowed a .261 BAA with 21 bombs and 41 doubles over that same span to right-handed hitters.
