Welcome to our PrizePicks MLB DFS prop picks for Monday, May 1, 2023. The 2023 MLB season is underway here at RotoBaller, and we have you covered with some terrific plays from our friends over at PrizePicks.
PrizePicks is a great DFS fantasy picks site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.
At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money.

PrizePicks Over/Under DFS Props Contests
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game.
The second game is known as Single Stat. For the MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total.
You can mix and match players from different types of games in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Let's see what the board offers today!

Luis Garcia more than 6.5 strikeouts
I am as surprised as any that Garcia is going in this article, but he has been superb recently. Over his previous 13 innings pitched, he has allowed just five hits, no earned runs, and struck out 16 batters. He has a solid matchup in terms of strikeout potential tonight as he gets the Giants. Over the previous two weeks, the Giants have posted the seventh-worst K rate vs. right-handers with a rate of 26.4%.
Tony Gonsolin less than 5.5 strikeouts
Gonsolin is certainly capable of striking out four Phllies, especially when you consider they have posted a 27% K rate vs. righties over the previous two weeks. Gonsolin spent the beginning of the season on the IL and was limited to just 65 pitches in his first start. He is likely to still be a bit limited in this one in terms of pitch count, which is the reason I am looking towards the less than here.
MacKenzie Gore more than 6.5 strikeouts
Gore has started the 2023 campaign by striking out 35 batters and allowing nine earned runs over his first 27 innings pitched. He has struck out seven or more in each of his previous two starts and struck out six in each of the three starts prior. He has a matchup against the Cubs tonight, who are posting a 23.7% K rate vs. left-handers on the season, which ranks them the 10th-worst in the league.
Fernando Tatis Jr. more than 8.5 hitter fantasy score
Tatis Jr. has come out of the gates hot as he has two home runs with 11 combined runs + RBIs through his first nine games. He will be up against Luke Weaver, who has struggled against right-handed hitters this season by allowing a .308 BAA along with two long balls. Tatis has eclipsed this total in three of his previous four games and has posted a .969 OPS vs. righties since 2021.
