Welcome to our PrizePicks MLB DFS prop picks for Friday, August 25, 2023. The 2023 MLB season is underway here at RotoBaller, and we have you covered with some terrific plays from our friends over at PrizePicks. PrizePicks is a great DFS fantasy picks site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play.
On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money.
Announcement: We have two awesome new Props Optimizers for the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and NCAA! The PrizePicks Optimizer and Prop Bets Optimizer are both available in our new Props Premium Package, which includes exclusive access to RotoBaller's VIP Discord chat rooms for props and betting.
PrizePicks Over/Under DFS Props Contests
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game.
The second game is known as Single Stat. For the MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total.
You can mix and match players from different types of games in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Let's see what the board offers today!

Spencer Strider more than 7.0 strikeouts
PrizePicks is running a promo today where they are discounting several props throughout the day, and Strider is currently on the board at 7.0. This is a solid value as he is currently listed on most books at -130 over 8.5 strikeouts.
He has struck out eight or more in nine of his previous 11 starts, including a 10-strikeout performance against these Giants in his most recent start. This is not all that surprising as the Giants have posted the ninth-highest K rate vs. right-handers over the previous three weeks with a rate of 24.2% while also posting a pedestrian wRC+ mark of 71 across that same span.
Kyle Hendricks more than 4.0 strikeouts
You will not often see Kyle Hendricks written up as a more than play in this article, but he has a solid matchup against the Pirates tonight and has matched or eclipsed this total in eight of his previous 11 starts. Over the previous three weeks, the Pirates have posted the seventh-highest K rate in baseball against right-handers with a rate of 24.7%. Seven of the previous eight starters the Pirates have faced have also eclipsed this total.
Sonny Gray more than 6.0 strikeouts
This could be a bit dicey considering we missed with Pablo Lopez against these same Rangers last night, however, Gray has a solid shot here tonight. He has struck out at least seven batters in his previous four starts. He will be facing the aforementioned Rangers, who have posted a 24.3% K rate vs. right-handers over the previous three weeks, ranking eighth-worst in baseball. Gray will also be at home in this one where he has posted a 9.6 K/9 mark compared to a 9.0 mark on the road.
Bryce Miller less than 6.0 strikeouts
Miller is a superb pitcher, however, he has a tremendously difficult matchup tonight in terms of strikeout potential. He will be up against the Royals, who are posting the lowest K rate against right-handers over the previous three weeks with a rate of just 18%. They are also posting the eighth-highest wRC+ mark at 117. Miller has also only eclipsed this total in three of his 18 starts on the season.
Note: They just pulled Miller as I was writing this so there will be no photo in the below screenshot. I would imagine he comes back up at 5.5, which clearly is not as good, but the less than would still be the play.
