Welcome to our PrizePicks MLB DFS prop picks for Friday, April 21, 2023. The 2023 MLB season is underway here at RotoBaller, and we have you covered with some terrific plays from our friends over at PrizePicks.
PrizePicks is a great DFS fantasy picks site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.
At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money.

PrizePicks Over/Under DFS Props Contests
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game.
The second game is known as Single Stat. For the MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total.
You can mix and match players from different types of games in your entry, or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Let's see what the board offers today!

Mitch Keller more than 5.5 strikeouts
Keller has been superb to start 2023. He has posted a 9.58 K/9 through his first four starts while eclipsing this total in three of them, including against Houston and Boston. Tonight, he will be up against the free-swinging Reds, who have posted a 25.1% K rate vs. right-handers over the previous two weeks. This ranks as the seventh-worst in baseball over that span. They have also posted just an 84 wRC+ mark over this same span, which should help keep Keller on the mound as well.
Jon Gray more than 6.5 strikeouts
Jon Gray has immense strikeout upside. Although he has only posted an 8.36 K/9 to begin 2023, he is fresh off of a 9.47 K/9 season in 2022. Tonight, he will be at home against the Athletics, where he posted a 10.26 K/9 a season ago. Oakland has struggled to begin the season as well. They are posting a 23.1% K rate over the previous two weeks vs. right-handed pitching with just a mediocre 90 wRC+ to pair with it.
Bryce Elder more than 4.5 strikeouts
I guess I should not be surprised to see this number at 4.5 since Elder is mostly unknown and he will be up against the Astros. Elder has thrown at least six innings in two of his first three starts. He also threw 5 1/3 innings in his most recent start while eclipsing this total in two of those three starts.
He has struck out 17 in total across those three starts. He will be facing Houston, who has struggled a bit to begin 2023 by posting the fifth-highest K rate against right-handers over the previous two weeks at 25.3%. They are also not smacking the cover off the ball in typical Astro fashion as their wRC+ mark over that same span is just 95. Call me crazy, but I think Elder can go five or six tonight and rack up somewhere between five and six strikeouts.
Julio Rodriguez more than 8.0 hitter fantasy score
Rodriguez has been on a bit of a rollover the previous seven days as he has posted a .893 OPS with two home runs. He will be up against left-hander Steven Matz, who has allowed 25 home runs and a .269 BAA to right-handed hitters since 2021. Meanwhile, Rodriguez has posted a .859 OPS vs. left-handers in his career while also posting a 1.076 OPS against them thus far in 2023.
