MLB DFS Prop Picks for 8/9/22
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. over 1.5 total bases - I am so excited Kyle Bradish is back on the mound as he was a favorite target early in the season. He has been awful against right-handed hitters this season as he allowed nine homers, seven doubles, and posted a 1.86 WHIP across facing just 149 batters. Vlad leads the Blue Jays in OPS against right-handers and has put up 19 home runs and 20 doubles against them.
Carlos Carrasco over 5.5 strikeouts - Cookie has a solid matchup against the Reds tonight as they are posting the fourth-highest K rate against right-handers over the previous two weeks with a rate of 27.3% while also posting an abysmal 62 wRC+ mark over that same span. He has gone over this total in three of his previous four starts and four of his previous six as well.
Shane Bieber over 7.0 strikeouts - This could be a tad dicey, but Bieber has looked great in his last two starts and has struck out a combined 16 batters across 13 IP in those two starts. The matchup tonight against Detroit is superb as they are posting the second-highest K rate against righties over the previous two weeks with a rate of 27.7% while also posting just a 68 wRC+ mark.
Tommy Henry over 4.5 strikeouts - I am not going to sit here and pretend I know a lot about Tommy Henry because I do not. I do know that he struck out more than a hitter per inning in the minors and managed to strike out three Guardians in his most recent start and has the best matchup of any left-hander on the board tonight against Pittsburgh, though. The Pirates are posting an absurd 32% K rate vs. lefties over the previous two weeks, which is ranked dead last in baseball. They are also posting just a 6.0% walk rate and 78 wRC+ mark, so he should certainly be able to have some success in this one.
