Week 12 Running Back Rankings Analysis
A new feature has been added to our weekly fantasy football rankings article. Below, you will find our fantasy football outlooks for key running back options in Week 12, which gives readers a matchup preview of that player and advice on whether to start or avoid for the upcoming week. We provide outlooks for all 32 NFL teams, which can be found on our player profile pages and our fantasy football news desk.
James Conner, RB, Arizona Cardinals
Week 12 Overall PPR Rankings: 50
Week 12 Running Back PPR Rankings: 22
Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner will look to keep the good times rolling in Week 12 against the L.A. Rams. In his second performance in Week 11 after returning from injured reserve (knee), Conner cleared the 60-yard mark and reintegrated into the team's passing game. Conner also reestablished himself as the top option in the Arizona rushing attack, as all the other backs on the roster totaled one carry.
Despite having a top-10 pass defense, the Rams are mediocre against the rush, ranking 18th. This could open up some running lanes for Conner and give him a chance to make a significant impact. It's not out of the realm of possibility for Conner to accumulate over 100 yards in this matchup, thus making him an RB2 with upside.
Kyren Williams, RB, Los Angeles Rams
Week 12 Overall PPR Rankings: 52
Week 12 Running Back PPR Rankings: 24
Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams (ankle) was a full practice participant all week and was officially removed from the Week 12 injury report on Friday. It means he will officially be activated from Injured Reserve on Saturday and return to play against the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday after missing the last four games while on IR. However, it remains to be seen if the 23-year-old will be eased back into LA's backfield after the long layoff.
Williams' full practice participation all week is good news, though, so he figures to see a decent workload in a plus matchup against Arizona. "I think we want to be able to give him a good workload, but I think that was something we had identified [previously]," head coach Sean McVay said of Williams, who will be backed up by Royce Freeman on Sunday. Williams will have RB2 upside for fantasy managers in his first game back.
Rachaad White, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Week 12 Overall PPR Rankings: 20
Week 12 Running Back PPR Rankings: 11
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White has scored a touchdown in three straight games. In fact, White has found the end zone four times over the last three contests with one score through the air. The young back has a good chance at keeping it going against a struggling Indianapolis Colts defense in Week 12.
A defensive unit that has allowed 12 touchdowns to opposing running backs this season. The Bucs have made it a focal point to get White involved in both the running and passing game. Fantasy managers should feel comfortable plugging White in as an RB2 for this week.
Derrick Henry, RB, Tennessee Titans
Week 12 Overall PPR Rankings: 22
Week 12 Running Back PPR Rankings: 13
Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry (ankle) got in a full practice on Friday and is ready to go for Sunday's Week 12 game against the Carolina Panthers. Henry started the week off with a limited session but logged back-to-back full practices on Thursday and Friday. Henry has struggled over the last two weeks, totaling just 62 yards on 21 carries (2.95 yards per carry) to go along with just two catches for two yards.
He has a better matchup this week against Carolina, but the Titans' offense has looked pretty bad over the last month. He has a chance to right the ship, but only if the Titans can stay in a positive/neutral game script, which is certainly possible against a struggling Panthers team. He is a mid-level RB2 for Week 12.
Bijan Robinson, RB, Atlanta Falcons
Week 11 Overall PPR Rankings: 29
Week 11 Running Back PPR Rankings: 17
Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson saw a season-high 22 rushing attempts during the Week 10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. This was a promising sight from the young back who had been stuck in a split all season long. The hope is that the rookie back continues to get the bulk of the carries going forward. The Falcons are coming off a bye week, so everyone should be refreshed and ready to go.
Sadly, Robinson has a tough matchup against the New Orleans Saints defense. It's a defensive unit that has allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points to opposing backs this season. Despite that, Robinson should remain as a low-end RB1 heading into this Week 12 contest.
