Zion Williamson To Sign Five-Year, $231 Million Extension
2 years agoAccording to Shams Charania, the New Orleans Pelicans will be signing forward Zion Williamson to a five-year extension worth $231 million. Williamson has played in just 85 games since being drafted first overall by the franchise in 2019. He missed the entirety of the 2021-22 season after undergoing foot surgery in the offseason prior. The 21-year-old is one of the most talented young players in the league, but his extension is sure to draw criticism based on his prolonged injury history. The last time we saw him, during the 2020-21 season, he averaged 27.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 61.1% from the field.
