Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara earned two assists in a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night. The 40-year-old veteran got the primary assist on Brian Gionta’s first goal as a Bruin and then helped on Brad Marchand’s game-winning goal late in the third period. Chara has been a reliable shutdown defenseman this season, maintaining an excellent plus-25 plus/minus over 65 games played so far while still earning a respectable 21 points. The Bruins captain will likely to see a lot of playing time through the end of the regular season, as fellow defenseman Charlie McAvoy is out with a knee injury.--Alex McKenzie
