1 year agoZane Smith is back behind the wheel of the No. 38 Ford for Front Row Motorsports this weekend, making his seventh NASCAR Cup Series start of the season. Through his first six starts this year, Smith has an average finish of 26.5 with a best result of 10th at Charlotte back in May. This is noteworthy because Charlotte is very similar to Texas, which is where the Cup Series is racing at this weekend. However, it will likely take a lot of improvement for Smith to replicate that top-10 finish. In practice on Saturday, the No. 38 Ford was just 34th-fastest on the speed chart (out of 36 cars) and Zane qualified the Ford back in 33rd-place. He started in 29th at Charlotte this year when he scored that top-10 finish.--Jordan McAbee
