3 months agoWashington Commanders kicker Zane Gonzalez is a risky play in DFS formats this weekend, facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gonzalez has been tasked to replace the injured Austin Seibert (groin) and has gone 5-for-7 on attempts and perfect on extra points. Both of his missed attempts came from over 40 yards out. Over the past two weeks, Gonzales has only attempted one field goal per game, as the Commanders have been very efficient in the red zone. However, he has made five extra points over this stretch. Despite playing on a high-octane offense, given his struggles from deeper rangers, he is best to leave off of your DFS lineup as he is one of the least-proven kickers in the playoffs.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

2 months agoWashington Commanders kicker Zane Gonzalez is a risky play in DFS competitions this weekend facing the Philadelphia Eagles. Last weekend, during their upset victory over the Detroit Lions, Gonzalez went 1-for-2 on attempts and a perfect 6-for-6 on extra points. Since taking over the starting duties for Austin Seibert (groin), Gonzalez has gone 9-for-12 on field goals and 27-for-27 on extra points. Given that the Eagles have allowed the fewest fantasy points to opposing kickers this season makes Gonzalez a risky streaming option that carries little upside.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

3 months agoWashington Commanders kicker Zane Gonzalez (hip) is off the injury report and is good to go for Saturday's divisional round matchup against the Detroit Lions. Gonzalez opened the week as a limited participant but was upgraded to a full participant for the remainder of the week. Last weekend in Tampa Bay, the 29-year-old had the best game of his career as he went 3-for-3 on field goals and 2-for-2 on extra points. Gonzalez made his first attempt from over 50 yards in this contest and hit the game-winner as time expired. Playing in a dome in a projected high-scoring affair makes Gonzalez a viable play in DFS competitions, as the Commanders should be in scoring positions all evening.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

3 months agoWashington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said there's no concern about kicker Zane Gonzalez's hip injury or his status for the Divisional Round playoff game this Saturday versus the hosting Detroit Lions. Gonzalez was listed as limited in the team's first practice of the week on Tuesday but was a full-go on Wednesday, signaling he's ready to kick this weekend. If the 29-year-old puts in another full practice on Thursday, he'll most likely be removed from the final injury report. After joining the Commanders midway through the 2024 campaign, Gonzalez delivered stability at the position and made five of his seven field-goal attempts and all 19 of his extra-point tries in six regular-season games before kicking the game-winning field goal last Sunday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round. Despite that, he'll be a shaky fantasy option in Detroit in a game in which the Commanders won't have the luxury of settling for field goals.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

3 months agoWashington Commanders kicker Zane Gonzalez (hip) was listed as a full participant in Wednesday's practice after he was limited on Tuesday. The upgraded practice status for Gonzalez means that he should be able to kick this Saturday against the Detroit Lions in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, barring a setback in practice with his hip on Thursday. The 29-year-old veteran joined Washington midseason and ended up going 5-for-7 on his field-goal tries while making all 19 of his extra-point attempts in six regular-season games. He made all three of his field goals, including the game-winner that doinked off the upright, in the three-point wild-card win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday night. Gonzalez also made all three of his extra points in that contest. Gonzalez has been solid for the Commanders, but he won't be one of the best fantasy kicking options this weekend in Detroit.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
