Zack Wheeler Tosses Six Quality Innings Versus Nats
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler allowed two runs in six innings pitched in a no-decision at Washington on Wednesday. Wheeler wasn't at his best in this one as he allowed eight hits and a walk, but he used seven K's to work out of a couple of jams and keep the Nationals at bay. Wheeler has now gone at least six innings in four-straight starts with at least six strikeouts in each outing. He's sporting a strong 27 percent strikeout rate this season and his 2.85 ERA is backed up by a 3.20 xFIP. Wheeler has a juicy matchup in his next outing against a Marlins team that has the third-worst strikeout rate versus right-handed pitching.
