Zack Wheeler Allows Six Runs In Defeat
6 years agoNew York Mets start Zack Wheeler got off on the wrong foot Thursday afternoon against the Washington Nationals, eventually taking the loss. Wheeler surrendered four runs in the game's opening frame, allowing a pair of doubles along the way. While the Mets came back to tie the game, the 28-year-old allowed two more runs to score in the fifth. He would wrap up his afternoon following six innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits. The defeat moved his record to 3-3 on the year, while his ERA has risen up to 4.85. Wheeler's performance was particularly disappointing considering he'd began the month with a pair of quality starts and double-digit strikeouts.
