Zack Britton Throws Simulated Game
4 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Zack Britton (elbow) threw a simulated game to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRider hitters on Saturday afternoon. It's the first time that Britton, who had bone chips in his pitching elbow, faced live hitters since his surgery in March. The veteran southpaw threw 26 pitches, striking out two batters and walking a pair, noting that his slider felt better than his sinker, a staple offering for him in his career. Manager Aaron Boone said that the plan is for Britton to throw five rehab outings before returning to the Bronx. He's getting closer to a return, which is good news for fantasy managers who stashed him, as he pitched to a 1.91 ERA in 61 1/3 innings in 2019.
