Zack Britton Records First Save Of Season
3 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Zack Britton notched his first save of the season in Wednesday's 5-2 win over Kansas City. Britton worked the ninth, inducing three groundouts after hitting the leadoff man. The lefty redeemed himself, as he had blown a save chance during Monday's wild contest. He still sports a 5.28 ERA and 1.57 WHIP but has been far more effective in August so far, perhaps starting to look more like the version of himself from his first two seasons in the Bronx. Britton isn't likely to see many more save chances with Aroldis Chapman (elbow) the closer when healthy, though he is certain to pitch in high-leverage situations down the stretch for New York, giving him value in leagues that track holds.
