1 year agoVegas Golden Knights defenseman Zach Whitecloud (upper body) will join the lineup for Friday's game against San Jose, making his season debut. The 26-year-old has missed the first month of the regular season with an upper-body injury he sustained during a preseason game. Whitecloud needed surgery to get it fixed, so it was a fairly serious injury. However, he's fully healthy now, and his presence is poised to provide a further boost for the reigning Stanley Cup champions, who have kicked off the new campaign with a fantastic 11-2-1 record. Whitecloud is offensively very limited but has averaged 1.63 blocks and 1.52 hits for his career. He will take Brayden Pachal at the back.

The 26-year-old was injured in a preseason game on Monday versus Colorado, and while head coach Bruce Cassidy was hopeful that it won't be a long-term issue, Whitecloud's preparations for the new campaign have hit a big roadblock as he won't be able to work with the team for the remainder of the preseason. This also puts his availability for the regular-season opener in doubt.

The 26-year-old was injured in Monday's preseason game against Colorado. Whitecloud missed significant time last season and must be desperate to avoid another lengthy spell on the sidelines. He featured 59 times during the regular season in 2022-23, registering 12 points (five goals, seven assists) with 97 blocks and 90 hits. Whitecloud added two goals and six assists in 22 playoff outings during the Golden Knights' road to winning the Stanley Cup.

2 years agoVegas Golden Knights defenseman Zach Whitecloud turned into a playmaker in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals against Dallas on Friday, finishing a 4-3 overtime victory with two assists. He had a primary assist on a William Karlsson strike and registered a secondary assist when Teddy Blueger scored. The 26-year-old completed his line with one shot on goal, three blocks and one hit in 20:14 of ice time. Whitecloud has produced four assists in total in 12 playoff appearances this year, adding one goal. He's mostly anonymous offensively but has been busy on the defensive side of things, registering 18 blocks and 27 hits.
