Zach Eflin Stymies Yankees To Avoid Sweep
6 years agoLooking to avoid a home sweep at the hands of the New York Yankees, the Philadelphia Phillies righted the ship with starter Zach Eflin leading them to victory. The 24-year-old capped off a sensational 5-0 month with a seven-inning shutout performance, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out six. After going 1-2 in May, the right-hander posted a 1.76 ERA in five starts this month, striking out 28 batters in 30 innings of work. Eflin opened and capped off the month with seven-inning quality starts, and considering Jake Arrieta’s slide during the same stretch, he could’ve catapulted himself as the club’s No. 2 starter behind Aaron Nola.
