Zach Britton Picks Up His Fifth Save
4 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Zach Britton picked up his fifth save of the season with a clean inning against the Phillies on Wednesday. The Yankees had provided the fourth most save opportunities coming into Wednesday, and Britton has been excellent so far, having allowed only two baserunners over his first five appearances. Even with his continued strong performance Britton is unlikely to remain as the team’s primary closer when flamethrower Aroldis Chapman returns from his coronavirus-related absence, but the team appears to be approaching Champan’s return cautiously, giving Britton at least another week or so to fill in as the closer for the Yankees.
