Zac Veen Up To Seven Steals On The Spring
2 years agoColorado Rockies center fielder Zac Veen has recorded seven stolen bases on the spring in just 23 at-bats. The 2020 first-round pick is participating in his first MLB spring training after splitting the 2022 campaign between the High-A and Double-A levels, stealing a whopping 55 bases alongside 12 home runs in 126 games. The 21-year-old made his pro debut in the 2021 season, hitting 15 homers and stealing 36 bases across 106 games at the Single-A level. The lefty-swinging speedster owns a .261 average with one home run alongside a .798 OPS this spring and will likely begin the 2023 season at Double-A, where he scuffled to a .177 average and .496 OPS across 34 games in 2022. His combination of power and elite speed makes him an intriguing fantasy prospect when he inevitably reaches the big leagues, perhaps as early as next season.
