Zac Veen Triples, Collects Four RBI At Triple-A On Wednesday
25 seconds agoColorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen had a nice day at the plate on Wednesday, going 2-for-5, including a triple along with four RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base for Triple-A Albuquerque. That makes him 7-for-19 (.368) to begin the season, with three of his seven hits going for extra bases. After a strong spring where he slashed .270/.352/.460 with two home runs, 11 RBI, 13 runs scored, and nine stolen bases in 28 Cactus League games, it seemed like he had a good shot at making the Rockies' Opening Day roster, but was ultimately optioned to Triple-A, which is where he finished last season. In 21 games for Albuquerque in 2024, the former first-round draft pick hit six home runs and swiped six bags, although a 26.1 percent strikeout rate limited his batting average to .220. With continued success, the left-handed slugger should push for a big league debut later this season, and with decent power along with 70-grade speed, the 23-year-old could make for an intriguing fantasy asset whenever he gets the call.
