Zac Gallen Earns His First MLB Win
5 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Zac Gallen was one of the more intriguing pitching call-ups this year as he'd been tearing up Triple-A to the tune of a 1.77 ERA and 0.71 WHIP prior to his call-up in mid-June. Six starts into his big league career, Gallen has been about as good as one could have hoped and his latest start was his strongest. On Wednesday, Gallen pitched seven scoreless innings against the White Sox, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out nine. He is now 1-2 on the year with a 2.76 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. This was the first time Gallen had made it past 5 1/3 innings in a start and he's still yet to reach 100 pitches. The Marlins will be careful with their promising young pitcher, which will limit his upside greatly in points leagues, but he should still provide significant help in ERA, WHIP and strikeouts in categories and rotisserie leagues. He should be owned in just about all leagues.
