Yusei Kikuchi Scratched Friday, Nestor Cortes To Start
4 years agoSeattle Mariners left-handed pitcher Yusei Kikuchi has been scratched from his start Friday against the Astros shortly before first pitch due to neck spasms, paving the way for left-hander Nestor Cortes to earn the start. Kikuchi was roughed up by Houston the first time that the two faced off this season, yielding five runs across 3 ⅔ frames. The start by Cortes will mark the second of his career, although he will likely be operating in an opener’s capacity as his season-high pitch count sits at 44. For those still able to alter DFS lineups, Houston now has the benefit of facing Seattle’s relief corps for the entirety of Friday’s contest. Check back for an update on Kikuchi and when he will be available to make his next start.
