Yosver Zulueta Has Struggled With Command
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays right-handed pitching prospect Yosver Zulueta hit a batter and gave up a double while striking out two in the All-Star Futures game last Saturday. The team's No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, is focused on becoming more consistent with his delivery, which should help his command issues. Zulueta has a troubling walk rate of 7.24 in nine innings in 41 innings pitched at Triple-A Buffalo in 2023. The 25-year-old has struggled with a 4.61 ERA, 1.71 WHIP, 33 walks and 47 strikeouts in 26 appearances (seven starts) for Buffalo this year. If Zulueta isn't able to find better command, he might be unlikely to return to a starting role at Triple-A or the major-league level. He has a smooth, easy delivery that produces explosive velocity from his right arm.
