Yoshihisa Hirano Gets More Work Tuesday
4 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Yoshihisa Hirano entered the game in the sixth inning and pitched one scoreless inning while walking one. This was only the second appearance this season for Hirano, who is working his way back from a lengthy absence due to COVID-19. While the original plan was for Hirano to be Seattle's closer for 2020, the missed time paired with Taylor Williams' performance as the fill-in closer makes the situation more complicated. While the Mariners could be letting Hirano ease back into the closer role, they may just let Williams take over considering the season is already halfway finished. Until an announcement is made or Hirano gets a save, he should be left on waivers.
