Yonny Chirinos Goes On Injured List, Allan Winans Recalled
1 year agoThe Atlanta Braves placed right-hander Yonny Chirinos (elbow) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to Aug. 20) with right-elbow inflammation on Monday and recalled right-handed pitching prospect Allan Winans from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move. Chirinos hasn't looked good in five starts for the Braves, allowing 23 earned runs on 33 hits (five homers) while walking seven and striking out 22 in 22 1/3 innings. Winans, the team's No. 30 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will replace Chirinos in the starting rotation and will start on Monday against the division-rival New York Mets. The 28-year-old rookie has allowed just two earned runs while striking out 14 in 11 1/3 innings in his first two big-league starts, making him intriguing in a two-start week.
