Yimi Garcia Picks Up His Third Save On Friday
4 years agoMiami Marlins closer Yimi Garcia earned his third save of the season in Friday's win over the San Francisco Giants. Garcia allowed one hit and recorded a strikeout in his inning of work, lowering his ERA to 1.08. He's excelled in the closer's role since taking over for a thoroughly ineffective Anthony Bass after Bass blew his first two save chances in ugly fashion. Recent comments from manager Don Mattingly seemed to imply that he wants Bass back in the ninth inning sooner than later despite Garcia's lights out work in every opportunity so far. It would be a typical Don Mattingly decision to take the guy who is on fire and demote or bench him anyway. In case Mattingly comes to his senses, Garcia needs to be rostered in most formats at this point.
