Yimi Garcia Gives Up The Only Run Of Thursday's Game
4 years agoMiami Marlins relief pitcher Yimi Garcia allowed the only run in a 1-0 Opening Day loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. Garcia came in to pitch the eighth inning and allowed a solo home run to Austin Meadows after getting two outs on long fly balls. Pretty much everyone watching the game saw the Meadows home run coming. Garcia ended up striking out the fourth batter he faced in the inning, but the damage was already done. Garcia was outstanding in the short 2020 season, but he's struggled with the home run ball in his career and was not good in spring training this season. With the stubborn Don Mattingly running things, Garcia's eighth inning role should be safe for at least a month regardless of the results.
