Yennier Cano Earns Save Monday
2 years agoBaltimore Orioles right-hander Yennier Cano tossed a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a 5-4 win over the Boston Red Sox on Monday. Cano struck out two and did not allow a baserunner in the frame while notching three swinging strikes on just 12 pitches. The Orioles turned to Cano for the save after they had used regular closer Felix Bautista in two of the past three games. Cano has been dominant in the Baltimore bullpen this season, posting seven scoreless innings with nine strikeouts. He has yet to allow a baserunner over that span. Bautista remains the preferred closer for the Orioles but Cano would have plenty of fantasy value were he to move into the ninth-inning role.
