Yasmani Grandal Will Not Play On Saturday
3 years agoChicago White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal (calf) will not play on Saturday after his early exit Friday night, according to James Fegan of The Athletic. Grandal exited the game due to left calf tightness prior to the bottom of the fifth inning, and manager Tony La Russa said they will evaluate him again on Saturday and will likely call up another catcher as protection. This injury comes at a bad time for Grandal, who had finally started swinging the bat well as he is slashing .333/.410/.727 with four homers, 13 RBI and nine runs scored over his last 10 games. Zack Collins should get the start on Saturday, and will be the primary catcher if Grandal misses an extended period of time.
