3 years agoChicago White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal (knee) is inching toward a return to the field. On Wednesday, White Sox manager Tony La Russa stated that Grandal's return was "imminent" while giving little additional context. On Thursday, La Russa offered a bit more clarity, saying, "I think there's a chance that he's going to be back this weekend." Grandal has been sidelined since early July, when he underwent surgery to repair a partially-torn tendon in his left knee. Prior to the injury, Grandal slashed .188/.388/.436 with 14 home runs, 38 RBI and 42 runs over 63 games. His 24.5% walk rate on the year has made him far more valuable in leagues that count walks and in OBP leagues.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
