Yasiel Puig May Bat Third
7 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig may regularly bat third in the lineup according to Dave Roberts. The vacancy created by Justin Turner's hand injury looked to be filled by a resurgent Matt Kemp, but giving it to Puig makes sense given the advances he made last season in his game. He had career highs in HR and RBI, and took walks at the highest rate (11.2%) since his rookie year. Roberts even mentioned that Puig could bat third against lefties, which is surprising. Puig batted .183 versus lefties in 2017, managing just 22 hits in 145 plate appearances, 15 of which were singles. This could merely be an example of Dave Roberts boosting Puig's confidence to start the season, but his fantasy owners would love nothing more than to see Puig at the plate as much as possible.
