Seattle Kraken forward Yanni Gourde has been hit with a two-game suspension for charging Edmonton Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm on Thursday night. Gourde was issued a five-minute major and a game misconduct for a hit in which he appeared to leave his feet in the final few minutes of Thursday's contest. The 32-year-old is an original member of the Kraken from their 2021-22 inaugural season. He has collected seven goals and 19 points on 97 shots on goal across 45 games this season and has recorded 42 goals and 115 points across 200 games with the franchise since being selected from the Tampa Bay Lightning in the expansion draft. Gourde scored a career-high 25 goals as a rookie with the Lightning in the 2017-18 season.--Brenton Kemp

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde (abdomen) is viewed as a game-time decision for Tuesday's contest against the Minnesota Wild. The 33-year-old has been sidelined since January 2 after undergoing sports hernia surgery. Over his previous 10 contests before the injury, Gourde found the back of the net three times and added three helpers. During this stretch, he logged 20 hits and 10 blocked shots. Through 35 total contests, Gourde has scored six goals and added 10 assists. However, he has found value in leagues that reward hits as he tallied 58 with 26 blocked shots during this span. If the 33-year-old were to re-enter the starting lineup on Tuesday evening, he will likely replace Ben Meyers. Given the time he missed, he will be a high-risk play in DFS as the team may monitor his ice time as he returns to NHL action.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

According to the team, Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde (abdomen) underwent sports hernia surgery on Friday. The team noted that the 33-year-old is expected to be sidelined five-to-seven weeks. Gourde has been battling a lower-body injury throughout the season and will now face a longer recovery timetable. Across 35 games, Gourde scored six goals and added 10 helpers with a -5 rating. He logged 58 hits and 26 blocks. As a result, fantasy managers should expect Matty Beniers and Chandler Stephenson to continue to operate as the top centers in the lineup. When Gourde does return, he will likely return to the third line. Last season, Gourde made 80 starts with the Kraken and, found the back of the net 11 times, and added 22 helpers.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde (lower body) is ready to return from a three-game absence on Thursday against Chicago. He's expected to grab a second-line role, working as the center between Jaden Schwartz and Brandon Tanev. Gourde's offensive output has been limited to five goals and nine assists in 29 games this season. However, his scoring rate has improved this month, as Gourde has averaged a point per game in four appearances. The Blackhawks share the league's worst record with Nashville and allow over three goals per game (3.16), so Gourde will be in a good position to continue his recent hot spell.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Seattle Kraken center Yanni Gourde (lower body) won't play against Boston on Thursday. He sustained a lower-body injury in Tuesday's matchup against Florida and will be out for a second time this season. The good news is that Gourde is considered day-to-day, so he shouldn't be out for long. His first chance to return comes on Saturday versus Tampa Bay. Gourde has been among the Kraken's hottest forwards lately, averaging a point per game across the last four contests. He's collected 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 29 games throughout the season. Ryan Winterton is projected to enter the lineup as Gourde's replacement, with Brandon Tanev getting a chance to skate in a first-line role.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
