Yankees "Won't Part" With Elite Prospects For Rental Pitcher
6 years agoThe New York Yankees have long been rumored to be buyers with the trade deadline on the horizon, but it seems the team is adamant about what they're willing to give up in a potential deal. According to YES Network's Jack Curry, the Yankees have "made it clear to teams they won't part with elite prospects for a rental." Curry goes on to say that "elite prospects" should be read as outfielders Clint Frazier and Estevan Florial and pitchers Justus Sheffield, Albert Abreu, and Domingo Acevedo, among others. The Yankees own a surplus of blue-chip prospects but with the market for pitching drying up, the team is probably doing the right thing in protecting their young guns. Toronto Blue Jays starter J.A. Happ has long been a target of the team, but it seems the Blue Jays — or another team with a starting pitcher on the block, for that matter — shouldn't expect to receive a big haul in return.
