Yankees Reinstate J.D. Davis From Injured List
4 months agoThe New York Yankees reinstated infielder J.D. Davis (illness) from the 10-day injured list on Friday before their series opener against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays to kick off the second half of the 2024 season. Davis is back with the big-league club after battling a stomach illness to close out the first half. The 31-year-old could occupy the short side of a platoon at first base with rookie Ben Rice against left-handed pitching, which could make him attractive in AL-only leagues down the stretch, at least until Anthony Rizzo (forearm) returns from the IL. There's not a whole lot of upside with the 31-year-old right-handed bat, though. Davis has one hit in his first 13 at-bats for the Yankees and was hitting .236 (29-for-123) with four home runs and five RBI in 39 games with the Oakland Athletics to begin the campaign.
