Yankees "Getting Closer" On J.A. Happ, Brandon Drury A Key Piece
6 years agoThe New York Yankees have long been linked to Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher J.A. Happ, and now it seems like a deal might be done soon with versatile infielder Brandon Drury being a primary part of the package going to Toronto. According to MLB Network Insider Joel Sherman, the Yankees are getting closer on a Happ deal, though it is not in the physicals stage yet. Still not done, but it's noteworthy that — after news dropped of other teams being in the mix — the Yankees are the frontrunners. Originally the Blue Jays wanted the likes of pitching prospect Justus Sheffield and outfielder Clint Frazier, but it seems the price for Happ has dropped since then. Happ is sporting a 4.18 ERA this season, but is 10-6 with a 1.18 WHIP. Expect those numbers to get even better if he joins the powerhouse Yankees.
