Yankees To Send Brandon Drury, Billy McKinney For J.A. Happ
6 years agoNew York Yankees infielder Brandon Drury and outfield prospect Billy McKinney are expected to go to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for starting pitcher J.A. Happ. The deal is reportedly going through its final details. Drury is an extremely versatile player, though he has battled injury this season, as well as being the odd-man out of a deep Yankees team. He's hit .176 this season, but at 25-years-old he brings a lot of upside to Toronto. McKinney is the Yankees No. 20 prospect, and has one hit in four major league at-bats. He has a .272 career batting average during six years in the minors. The Yankees are banking on the World Series this year so it's not surprising that they're willing to give up young, controllable players for a rental pitcher. Drury provides insurance for the Blue Jays in regards to third baseman Josh Donaldson, while it remains to be seen how McKinney's dynasty value will change — if at all — with the Blue Jays.
