Yankees, Dodgers Complete Three-Player Swap
11 months agoThe New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers completed a three-player swap on Monday as the Yankees sent infield prospect Trey Sweeney to Los Angeles in exchange for left-hander Victor Gonzalez and infielder Jorbit Vivas. The Dodgers were rumored to be moving out a pair of players from their 40-man roster in order to clear space for two-way star Shohei Ohtani and reliever Joe Kelly. Sweeney, the Yankees eighth-ranked prospect, hit .252 with 13 home runs and 20 stolen bases across 100 games at Double-A Somerset in the 2023 season. The 23-year-old was a first-round pick in 2021. Gonzalez, 28, worked to a 4.01 ERA across 34 outings with the Dodgers last season and owns a career 3.22 ERA in 93 big-league outings. Vivas, 22, spent the bulk of the 2023 campaign in Double-A where he hit .280 with 12 homers and 21 steals across 109 games played.
