2 years agoThe New York Yankees claimed right-hander Albert Abreu off waivers from the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday, according to sources. Abreu recently had been designated for assignment by the Royals after he allowed two earned runs on six hits while walking four and striking out three in 4 1/3 relief innings for KC. The 26-year-old also allowed three earned runs while walking 12 and striking out nine in 8 2/3 relief innings for the Texas Rangers earlier this season. Abreu will be joining the Yankees for the second time in his career after spending the previous two seasons in the Bronx. In those two seasons, Abreu had a 5.68 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 37 K's and 21 walks in 38 relief innings.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
