Yankees, Carlos Rodon Face Sizable Offer Gap
2 years agoThe New York Yankees made an official offer to free-agent starting pitcher Carlos Rodon on Tuesday, and there is reportedly a "sizeable gap" between the two parties, per NY Post's Jon Heyman. While Rodon remains the Yankees' top priority, the 30-year-old lefty is reportedly seeking a seven-plus-year deal worth at least $30 million a year. If true, this would be quite a large asking price for a pitcher who has never thrown 200 innings in a season, and prior to 2022, had not pitched more than 150 innings since 2016. Rodon was excellent in 2022 with the Giants, going 14-8 with a 2.88 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 33.4% strikeout rate in 31 starts and 178 innings. He will be a higher-end fantasy option, regardless of where he lands.
