Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Yandy Diaz (ankle) will sit on Wednesday against right-hander German Marquez and the Rockies. Diaz tweaked his ankle and left the game early Tuesday night, however, he said he'll be available to pinch hit if needed. Manager Kevin Cash said that Diaz was scheduled for an off day Wednesday anyway, so this doesn't signify anything serious. Look for Diaz to be back in the lineup on Friday where he'll be welcomed by two right-handed pitchers in the series. In 21 at-bats this season, he's slashing .375/.474/.750 and one home run against righties. Feel free to fire him up as a streamer, as he's only owned in 14 percent of Yahoo leagues.--Zach Alexander

Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Yandy Diaz (hip) is serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff for the Rays on Wednesday against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies and left-hander Cristopher Sanchez. Diaz will return to action after leaving Tuesday's win over the Phillies early with tightness in his right hip. Curtis Mead is starting at first base and batting fifth. The 33-year-old Diaz hasn't been nearly as good in the leadoff spot against left-handers so far this year, going 5-for-32 with two of his five home runs and only three RBI. In six career at-bats against Sanchez, Diaz has hit .333 with a .666 OPS in six at-bats. The Cuban slugger has had a modest season heading into Wednesday's action with a .257/.312/.421 slash line, .733 OPS, five home runs, 17 RBI, 14 runs scored and two steals. He's been hot the last two weeks, though, going 16-for-46 (.348) with two of his five homers on the season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Yandy Diaz (leg) left Tuesday's game in the sixth inning due to an apparent leg injury. He seemed to tweak something swinging at a pitch in the sixth inning, and left the game while gesturing toward his right leg. More details regarding the specifics of the injury should be available after the game. Diaz was enjoying a nice night at the plate, launching a two-run home run in the fourth inning that was his fifth of the season. UPDATE: Manager Kevin Cash said the team thinks Diaz is OK and will play on Wednesday. Diaz was pulled early because his right hip tightened up on him.--Jeremy Heist - RotoBaller

Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Yandy Diaz played an integral part in helping the Rays win the series' rubber match on Thursday evening against the Arizona Diamondbacks by a score of 7-4 in extra innings. He went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Diaz is heating up at the plate over the last two games with back-to-back games of three hits in each contest, boosting his slash line to .248/.286/.400 after a slow start to the season. Diaz is a career .287 hitter, so fantasy managers should be expecting progression on the horizon. In addition, he is not striking out or whiffing often and has an xBA of .285, so fantasy managers should expect the results to follow. The Rays continue their NL East road trip with a three-game series against the San Diego Padres on Friday. Diaz will look to stay hot at the plate and help the Rays finish the week strong.--Nicho Roessler - RotoBaller

Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Yandy Diaz blasted his second home run of the season in Sunday's 8-3 win over the Atlanta Braves. The home run came in the first inning off Chris Sale, the 2024 NL Cy Young winner. Diaz has gotten off to a slow start to the season, but in his last six games, he has gone 7-for-23 (.304). So far this season, Diaz is now slashing .210/.242/.355, scoring eight runs with three RBI, to go along with the two home runs. Diaz is a career .287 hitter, so fantasy managers should expect him to turn it around as he's barrelling the ball up and still ranks in the 82nd percentile in hard-hit percentage. Next for Diaz and the Rays is a series against divisional rivals, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. Diaz will look to keep it going and stay hot at the plate.--Nicho Roessler - RotoBaller
